Rehab seems to be the place to go these days. Just look at Lindsay, Britney, Nicole, and even Jesse Metcalfe. They all are addicts and they go there and get clean, or go there and try to get clean. Anyway I have been thinking lately that I need to take one of their "trips to rehab." You might wonder why I would come online and blog about needing a trip to rehab, and no it is not because I want a sweet vacation. I have an addiction, and it is serious. It is an addiction to soap operas. No honestly I am what some might call a soap-a-holic or a soap junkie. My love for soap operas began ever since I was little and would literally hope for a sick day in elementary school so I could watch All My Children's Leo DuPres (Josh Duhamel) and Greenlee Smythe (Rebecca Budig) banter back and forth at each other. I mean what kind of eleven year old kid hopes they get sick so they can watch soap operas? Sure Josh Duhamel is a hot guy but I'll tell you what kind of kid hopes for a sick day, a soap addict.
Ever since those elementary school days my love for soaps has continued on strong. I don't just watch one show I or one network of soaps. I watch several soaps, several networks. I watch enough soaps to know what is going on in Oakdale, Pine Valley, Llanview, Port Charles and Springfield. I am not sure what it is about them that has me addicted but one thing is for sure; I am a soap junkie.
Anyway recently while I was feeding my soap addiction and was watching General Hospital I noticed ads for a new "night time" soap which was a spin off of General Hospital called "Night Shift" that airs on Soap Net. While at first I thought it looked kind of cheesy I decided that if I was around Thursday night I would tune in to see what it was like. So Thursday rolled around and with nothing to do I tuned into the "Night Shift." After about twenty minutes into the show I deemed myself a fan. Even though the plot at times was corny and well, soap like and even though one of the main characters Jason Morgan was in jail during the daytime episode and he suddenly was out of jail at night I still decided that "Night Shift" would now enter the list of the other drugs, er I mean soap operas I watched.
In fact I can honestly say that I am looking forward to next week’s episode. "Night Shift" was a faster paced version of General Hospital and it highlight some of the younger characters who I at times find hilarious like Spinelli, Maxie, and Coop. Overall I thought the show was much better than I expected and after checking out a few message boards I think fellow soap addicts like myself were pleasantly surprised with this new summer soap show. If the creators and the writers listen to a few of the fans suggestions like change the lighting of the show, work on fixing minor errors that came from the confusion of day to night (i.e. Jason's error) I think the show will be a new hit.
Who knows if a stint in "Promises Rehab Center" will cure me of illness just like it helped Lindsay out all I know is that will my addiction in high gear I am going to keep overdosing on soaps with a little "Night Shift."
Take me to Promises I am overdosing on Soaps
I recorded Night Shift so I plan on watching it tomorrow; I can't wait. I love GH, so to have a second GH show is just lovely! I love the new cast members Logan, Cooper, Spinelli. I'll miss "The Three Stooges", now that Scott Clifton is off the show. Well until he's on another show I have my three cd's of his on my ipod.
You are too funny! Yea I enjoy GH as well, and definitely miss the Leo/Greenlee days. There
was just nothing like that pairing since he left. But of course he's moved on to bigger and admittedly better things. He brought a sense of humor to soaps that I don't think I've ever seen
before. Okay, now I have to ask this since you say you're a soap addict...do you watch...Passions?
I don't really like it, but if you really like soaps...that's in an interesting class of its now.
I too was pleasantly surprised. The Jason thing was odd. His hair looked shorter than it does on the daytime show. I just assume it was filmed a while back. I wonder if Spinelli will have a shot foot during the daytime? I hope they do incorporate the two. They did mention Robin and Patrick getting in trouble and having to work the night shift.
So yeah I am looking forward to more episodes. Of course I love GH. Corny as it is sometimes, I will always be a fan.
